This
unique 1971 Volkswagen dune buggy is owned by
Marcel Bourgeois of Grande Dique, New Brunswick. Marcel acquired the little roadster
from a gentleman from Bathurst.
These buggys are very popular state side and the bodies have been made by several
different manufacturers. This body is quite unique in that it is a one piece unit,
the top is a imitation canvas unit however it is actually made of fibre glass
and is a lift off type. The front trunk is a reverse opening job (remember those
1959 Fords) and draws a lot of attention.
The
interior seats four and the carpeted floor keeps down road noise. It has matching
black bucket seats, custom steering wheel and other neat appointments.
The buggy is powered by the world famous VW 1600 cc dual port air cooled engine
which has been rebuilt and dressed up with many chrome goodies.
Power
go to the road through a set of white painted slot mags with Predator radial tires.
When asked how he came to call us here at Gary Steeves Insurance, Marcel answered
as do a lot of our new clients "a friend told me to give you people a call".
