This
beautiful 1975 MG B Convertible is owned by
Edward and Golda Mullins of Botwood, Newfoundland. Edward purchased the car in
the fall of 1995. Edward laughs as he explains that he purchased it through an
auction in St. John's, this was his first experience of buying "on-site,
un-seen".
However he was pleasantly surprised with his purchase as the car had the hardtop,
the soft-top, two tonneau covers, power brakes (last year for these) and the twin
SU carburetors.
Edward
with the help of his master mechanic friend Gary Regular, completely rebuilt the
1800 cc engine. MG engines of this vintage produced a 105 horsepower that made
these little cars a joy to drive.
The welding, sanding and spraying of the smooth coat of fire engine red paint
was completed with the help of Ed's friend Joe Rideout - an expert body man of
many years.
The
lucas wiring system had to have the usual complete overhaul.
This MG has always been in Newfoundland, having first been registered in 1975
in St. John's.
The Mullins' are members of the Central Newfoundland Antique Auto Club and
can be seen on sunny summer days sporting around with fellow clubs in their little
British roadster with the top down.
When asked about the Silver Wheel insurance plan as to its features and afford-ability,
Edward said it's "thumbs up all the way".
